Who else gets as excited for #featurefriday as we do?! This month we want to tell you guys about Tennessee’s first meadery located right here in Clarksville, Trazo Meadery. Travis Powell and his family opened the tasting room in May of last year, but they have been in business since 2016. All of their meads are produced on their family farm in Adams, TN.
The origins of the meadery started when Travis began his beekeeping journey at nine. He wanted to create something out of the bee’s byproduct, honey. Travis was intrigued by mead’s long history and after brainstorming with his dad and business partner, they began work on perfecting a mead recipe.
Trazo Meadery specializes in “show mead” which is made from three simple ingredients, honey, water, and yeast. They source their honey from around the world, however, the yeast they use is a decades-old strain passed down from Travis’s grandma.
On their menu, you can find flight boards allowing you to sample five of their most popular meads and charcuterie boards with meats from Italy and cheeses from Italy, Wisconsin, and Ireland. They also just started selling Trazo Mead growlers. Stop by and enjoy a great atmosphere and a glass of mead or cider. They’re open Fridays from 3pm to 11pm, Saturdays from 11am to 11pm, and Sundays from 11am to 5pm. Don’t forget to follow them to see what they’re up to!
