We hope you have had a fabulous week! Today’s #FeatureFriday post brings us to The Food Initiative Farm, located on 12 beautiful acres, complete with a creek and woods, and chickens, goats and pigs!
The Food Initiative is an organization, run by Michael and Regina Hampton, that is working to enrich the lives of young people through agriculture. Every summer, they take on 40 interns, ages 14-17 years old from Montgomery County and Fort Campbell. They also bring back six staff interns to serve as leaders with each new group. During the summer, the interns work the land, learning to grow healthy foods. The Food Initiative goes beyond that though in helping them learn about the food system, nutrition, meal planning, healthy sleep patterns, money management and communication, with the goal of creating personal and social change through hard meaningful work.
During the Spring and Fall, the farm is open for field trips and farm tours, and they welcome volunteers as well. Just call to get yourself or your group scheduled! The food grown at The Food Initiative is sold at the Clarksville Downtown Market during the summer months, and they also donate portions to local hunger relief organizations.
The Food Initiative is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that depends on community support and grants. They have a FUN fundraiser coming up on April 27th, from 11am to 3:30, at the farm. At The Hog Roast Hootenanny, there will be a hog roast, yummy side dishes, and desserts, including a s’mores station. There will be live music, a cash bar, and tons of fun for the littles as well. We will link the event in the comments so that you can get your tickets!
Clarksville is lucky to have The Food Initiative in our community, making it better, one life at a time! Be sure to thank them by spreading the word! Share this post, spend a day volunteering on the farm, donate, get a ticket to the Hootenanny… any of these help! Have a great week Clarksville! See you next week!- Faith (Faith Doggett Photography)
Hey, hey, hey, it’s Friday night, and the weekend is heeeeere! So excited to share this week’s #FeatureFriday business!! Calling all entrepreneurs, and folks out there running a small business that might need a little office space, something away from that home office. OfficeNow Clarksville at 1860 Wilma Rudolph Blvd., not only rents out suites and event space, but as of November 1st, you can now pay just $99/month for a membership, which has SO MUCH to offer!
OfficeNow, offers you a quiet, professional space to meet with clients, get caught up on your paperwork, or maybe participate in a conference call. Their suites start at $400 month, but now you can purchase a membership and have access to four different meeting spaces! This also gives you access to some great benefits, such as complimentary coffee and snacks available daily, once a week yoga with Yoga Mat, twice a month chair massage, as well as an on site chef to order meals from! Vivid is housed in the building, and the hallways are lined with beautiful work from several local artists, (and they have a gift shop too)! Having a membership gets you a great deal on event space rental as well! Oh and an address on Wilma Rudolph, complete with a mailbox for deliveries! Seriously guys, I could go on all night about the benefits, so be sure to contact OfficeNow to find out more!
April Consulo took over ownership of the building last November, and has done so much to not only improve the space visually, but also the atmosphere and feeling of community! She has a huge heart for business owners, and charity organizations as well! We are so excited to see what she has accomplished so far, and look forward to the amazing things that will come from this community of entrepreneurs! Have a great weekend Clarksville! Be sure to follow us on IG too for more fun updates! – Faith (photos by the one and only Kacie Bryant)
Prime Fitness is owned and run by husband and wife Charlie and Sara. I had a great time speaking with Charlie about the heart of Prime Fitness, though I hated to miss Sara who was out coaching soccer at CHS. Both of them have a heart for people and a desire to make Prime Fitness a place that feels like more of a family than just a gym, while providing top notch varied workouts that are proven safe and effective.
Prime is not somewhere you pop in and do things on your own, with no support and no knowledge of how to properly train your body. They offer both small and large group training, where the trainers are there to come along side each member, and “walk, run or crawl with them” to help them meet their goals of feeling better and gaining strength and the ability to function at their very best! They believe we’re not meant to go it alone, as Charlie points out, even the top Olympic athletes have coaches who train and support them.
You can check them out with a 21 day trial which includes 15 sessions, so be sure to reach out to them for more details on that! Sessions start at 5 am on weekdays, with the last session starting at 6:30pm.
Have a great weekend Clarksville! Be sure to check out the LOCAL Clarksville website for all of the fun things happening in town, and follow us over on Instagram too! Catch you next time! – Faith
After a couple of weeks away working with some amazing families who were welcoming their soldiers home, I am so happy to be back with another Feature Friday! ! I was lucky to visit with Marcia Clark at the beautiful Ruby Cora yesterday! The Ruby Cora is an absolutely stunning event venue that Marcia and her husband Nathan dreamt up and opened in January of 2018.
Let’s start by going back in time, to 1886, when Marcia’s Great-great grandfather purchased the 140 acre property. That’s right, 133 years ago Marcia’s ancestors started working the land by hand, growing crops and raising livestock. The farm, which Marcia co-owns with her mother, has been designated a Century Farm by the TN Department of Agriculture. You can even still find the building which housed the original kitchen on the property! Marcia remembers her great-grandmother Lula Bell ringing the dinner bell to call everyone in from working the land, and she has loved bells ever since.
When Marcia and Nathan were married on the front lawn, their guests commented on the beauty and peacefulness of the property and said they should do something to share it with others. This is what sparked The Ruby Cora, named for both of her grandmothers, Ruby and Cora, and complete with a bell in a steel tower, a modern space in a quiet place, was born! The building is exactly as the Clark’s envisioned, crafted for gathering but not defined, a blank canvas suitable for corporate meetings, reunions, and of course weddings, a building that brings the outside in with it’s full view doors which can be opened when the weather is just right.
Located just off exit 11 at 2300 Gunn Road, the Clark’s farm is home to one of the highest points in Tennessee, which makes for some stunning sunsets! The building and the farm itself are amazing, but they would be nothing without the hard work, thoughtfulness and hospitality Marcia and Nathan provide! I have seen them in action as I photographed a wedding here, and they really do go above and beyond to make sure every detail is attended to.
Special thanks to our friend Briana with The Lovely Rose Photography and Design Co. for sharing some of her gorgeous photos with us! (The one day we get rain in a month is of course the day I am trying to photograph the farm, so this week y’all get two photographers for the price of one!) Stay tuned for the Feature Friday, and please do come say hello on IG if you don’t already follow us there! Have a great week! -Faith (Faith Doggett Photography)
Happy Friday Clarksville, it’s lunch time! This week’s Feature Friday! brings us to Caprigios Pizza!! Caprigios, located at 620 Dunlop Lane, Suite 119, is a Veteran owned, family run business! Owned by Chef Ilona Rivera, and run daily by her son Carlos. He is the General Manager and also happens to be a chef, and his wife Caitlyn is the Assistant Manager. Caprigios gets their name from a blend of the names of all of Ilona’s children; Carlos, Priscilla and Giovanni.
Ilona developed a passion for cooking early in life through spending time in the kitchen with her Grandfather, who was also a chef. She not only drew inspiration from him, but also from watching her mother and grandmother cook. She learned lots of family secrets, from the many cultures represented in her bloodline, from German to Italian to Spanish. At 17, she enlisted in the military, following in her father’s footsteps, and she has a huge heart for others that serve. She offers a 15% discount to those currently enlisted and veterans as well. After the military, Ilona’s passion for cooking would lead her to attend Le Cordon Bleu to hone her skills, and she later worked at The Wynn and Encore hotels in Las Vegas, working with and learning from other amazing chefs!
We are so glad she decided to come back to Clarksville after Las Vegas, because we get to enjoy all of the amazing things she and her son create! Caprigios is a very inviting space for the family! They have a few different games and activities available for the kiddos, and even have fun plates for the kids to use! You’ll even find them growing herbs in the back corner of the restaurant! We tried an extra large pepperoni pizza, which my children described as epic and legendary! It was the perfect size for our family of four to fill up on and I will agree with the kids, LOVED the pizza! We also had the stromboli apple turnover which satisfied our sweet tooth!
Be sure to stop in and try one of their pizzas, calzones or subs! You can pick up pizza by the slice for lunch M-F, and also grab a salad or dessert from the cooler! If you want to order ahead, they have a NEW phone number: (931) 701-0330. I will see you next time with another amazing LOCAL business! – Faith (Faith Doggett Photography)
